Forever dedicated to the love, and cause, of promoting #Australia, our owners are currently in Sydney and the surrounds enjoying a holiday and checking out the situation first-hand for our travellers (photo of Penny taken just 2 days ago).

Despite the fires and the tragic loss of life, scenery and wildlife, Australia is a beautiful and wonderful country, and large parts are still safe to travel to and visit. At SCT, we are keen to ensure we support our friends, family and travellers Down Under, as well as those in the tourism industry who so rely on international travellers visiting year on year. Our thoughts and love is with all those affected.

If you are thinking of a holiday to Australia but would like more advice, feel free to contact our team of experts in either #Rye or #Wadhurst for up to date advice and holiday ideas.

In light of the recent, sad collapse of Thomas Cook, there is no better time to book with a travel agent to ensure you have full protection on your holidays.

As members of the Travel Trust Association, Southern Cross Travel offer 100% financial protection on all our bookings, plus all package holidays and flight only bookings include ATOL protection.

Feel free to call either office to find out more from our friendly team who will be happy to answer any questions you have. Alternatively, you can find full information on the TTA here – https://www.thetravelnetworkgroup.co.uk/faqs

ozcars-presentation-1Every year, Tourism Australia celebrates the excellence and achievements of the tourism industry in selling and promoting Australia through its OZCARs awards.

Southern Cross Travel, based in The Mint, Rye and Best Beech Hill, Wadhurst was delighted to have Penny Bones voted ‘Aussie Specialist of the Year 2008‘.

Penny, who is one of the proprietors of Southern Cross Travel, first visited Australia in 1969. She began her career in travel working with a London – Sydney overland company, set up by her (now) husband in 1971. She became an Australian citizen in 1982, and has lived or worked in all areas of Australia. Last year she visited the north west of Western Australia for the first time, thus completing her circuit of the country! Penny loves Australia, especially Sydney, where one of her daughters was born.

Her company, Southern Cross Travel, has specialised in long-haul, tailormade travel for over 30 years, with Australia and New Zealand being the top-selling countries.

‘To be recognised by your peers is a great feeling’ says Penny. ‘I am passionate about Australia, which makes it easy to sell. To sell this distant, vast country requires detailed knowledge, thus ensuring that our clients are not disappointed and get maximum value during their holiday. I hope to be able to continue my own travels to, and within, Australia for a very long time!’
