Known as the Spice Island, Grenada is cloaked with plantations, dense tropical forests and wears its past on its sleeve for all to see. And the beaches are pretty beautiful too.

This itinerary gives you a taste of both sides of the island.

Begin with a visit to the wilder north coast where you will get a more authentic Caribbean experience. Your stay is at Mount Edgecombe Plantation, a back-to-nature bolthole that’s hidden away in a landscape that wouldn’t look out of place in Jurassic Park. The heart of the hotel is the plantation house, a historic structure that’s full of eclectic furnishings that work together perfectly to create a wonderfully rustic atmosphere. The sounds of the unspoilt rainforests create a melodic soundtrack and exotic birds swoop between tropical trees as you laze by the pool or follow the spice trail that winds its way through the plantation.

Finish with an All-Inclusive week at Royalton Grenada, spread out over 30 rolling acres that are home to manicured gardens, a lake and a wealth of facilities for guests both adults and kids. One of the most popular spots is the elevated pool area that separates the two beautiful beaches and has incredible 180-degree sea views that are particularly impressive at sunset. There’s the Royal Spa with a cluster of treatment rooms; a beachside massage under the shade of a covered platform comes highly recommended as does a spot of sunrise yoga.
